When approaching Troviscais, on clear days, it’s possible to see the Atlantic on the horizon.

Its brief history dates back three generations ago. The then owners of Troviscais and much of the surrounding properties up to the river were a young couple, from whom most of the local inhabitants are descended.

However, its population is currently somewhat heterogeneous, as the unique beauty of the place and the proximity to the beaches have attracted foreigners and Portuguese from other parts of Portugal who have chosen to reside and work here over the past 20 years. It remains quite contained, as this locality is part of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, which has granted it a privileged and controlled status.

The proximity to the Mira River and the elevated topography were not indifferent in ancient times of greater deprivation to the location of this village.

It was precisely the proximity to the river that gave this place another type of Alentejo and provided the most contrasting landscapes that could be seen from it.

This contrast is also visible today in the character of its genuine inhabitants, and perhaps this is the characteristic that has allowed some of the best values that can be appreciated in a human being to remain intact, which one cannot remain indifferent to and that touch us differently.

This contrast is still visible in the character of its genuine inhabitants and maybe the feature that allowed the preservation of some of the highest values we may appreciate in a human being towards which we cannot feel indifferent and that touches us in a different way.
